Have you ever looked around at your family and friends and wondered how many days you will get to share with them?
I do this often — not in a negative way, but in an awe-filled way. Why do I do this? I find it a really beautiful and simple spiritual practice.
Everything in our life comes and goes at some point. Nothing lasts forever. That being said, it’s truly important to do our best to make moments matter.
When I wake up in the morning, I love asking myself how I can make today matter for someone. How can I add a positive boost to their day? I can hear some of you asking — does she really do this? YES! YES I DO!
I ask that question and I wait to get a sense of who could use a positive boost that day. Once I have a person in mind, I’ll ask what action I can take in that moment to give them some positive energy! The next step is the most important. I DO whatever action comes to mind.
Here is a list of a few things I often to do to make the day matter for someone:
- Send a positive and uplifting text.
- Reach out and make a date to have tea with someone.
- Make a meal and drop it off on their door step with a note.
- Take time to actually call someone on the phone.
- Write a hand written note and pop it in the mail.
- Drop off flowers on a doorstep with an inspirational quote.
- Pay for the persons coffee behind me in line (random acts of kindness).
Although all of these things seem obvious and easy – why do I go out of my way to do these things to people that come to mind?
I do these things every single day because I am alive and I can put a positive boost in someones day by doing such a simple thing.
Life is full of lots of surprises – many of which are stressful and scary for each of us everyday. We all have days that are harder to find joy than others. When we take the time to remind each other that we are here to support and love each other, something positive shifts in that day. The struggles of the day seem easier. I love the feeling at the end of the day thinking that I made someone smile and their day be a bit brighter.
Kindness is contagious, so let’s send it everywhere! @intuitionheals (Click to Tweet!)
Why do I consider this a simple spiritual practice? Imagine if everyone in the world remembered to do this every single day. Imagine if everyone took the time to do something positive for another person — every single day. How different do you think this world would feel?
A mentor of mine told me years ago – we are spirits living in a physical body. Feed the spirit of joy everyday and success will always find you.
Huge hugs to you! I love sharing these moments with you.
