Have you ever had the kind of morning where you wake up and you’re already overwhelmed and you haven’t even left the comfort of your bed? The disappointment of having to wake up rolls off you, signaling to the Universe and those around you that you aren’t really feeling it today.
Maybe you had a bad nights sleep, just broke up with your significant other, have a test to take at school, or have a pile of work on your desk. Whatever the reason take a moment before your feet hit the floor and reset.
Ask yourself, “What kind of day am I going to have?”
I think it’s kind of beautiful that you can set a positive intention to make the best of every day, even the ones where you wake up wanting it to be over.
Just a simple conscious breath or two is all it takes. How do you want to feel today? Capable, confident, relaxed, joyful? These are the first few that come to my mind. Set your intention, and draw on that during the day when stress tries to take over.
Conscious breathing is very powerful. As we focus with intention of what we want to receive, the focus on what we don’t want to receive starts to immediately dissolve. Inhalation is receiving and exhalation is releasing.
Remember this – breathing in receiving, exhaling out releasing. @intuitionheals (Click to Tweet!)
Lets say you want to feel confident. Close your eyes. Take a deep breath in through the nose. As you inhale say to yourself, “Today I am confident and full of certainty.”
When you can’t inhale anymore hold your breath for a count or two. As you being your slow exhalation out through your mouth, feel the tension, irritability, and stress you woke up feeling leave your body. Do this for about five slow deep breaths and notice the difference you feel.
Conscious breathing is self empowering and critical to holding ourselves accountable to what it is we say we want. Life will always throw wrenches our way but if we are clear about what we want to receive in our day and life, we get to choose how the wrench in the moment is supporting us instead of thinking it is creating blocks.
Sometimes, those crappy moments are an opportunity to take a moment, and set a positive intention. Sometimes, those crappy moments are a hand out from the Universe, and all you have to decide is if you’ll take the chance to breathe and find a positive mantra.
Every moment is an opportunity to take another step toward creating the life you truly dream of. The next time you feel overwhelmed or burdened, take a deep breath and feel the difference it makes.
Huge hugs!
