I love my life.
It wasn’t always like this for me. Years ago I would sit in meditation feeling unsettled, knowing my life could be different and that I could be a lot happier. Often I would be left at night with this feeling of emptiness and exhaustion wondering where my day went.
Spending time doing the four things below eventually created a life and schedule that I can say I absolutely LOVE!
The first thing that I did to create a life that I love was write down everything that I enjoyed spending time doing. At first my list was a handful of things – but as I sat and focused, my list kept growing. Everything that I liked and enjoyed was written on this list.
The second thing that I did to create more joy was to journal every night. For some reason journaling seemed to make a big difference for me, compared to just thinking about my day.
At the end of each day I would write out what I spent my day doing. I would read over what I wrote and compare it to my happy to-do list. How many things did I do today on my happy list? After a week or so had passed I realized I wasn’t really doing a lot that I loved in my day.
I looked around and noticed most people in my life were in the same boat as me! Getting up, going to work, coming home tired … just to do it all over again the next day. This is what I was supposed to spend the rest of my life doing? Ugh! No, thank you!
What was going to change this? I realized I WAS!
I committed to doing two things everyday that I thoroughly enjoyed. I chose to make joy a priority no matter how hectic my day was. I chose to slow down and take time doing things that made me feel happy and optimistic. This seemed to change everything for me. By doing this, positivity started oozing into all corners of my life.
Third, I began using the affirmation, “I am worthy of creating a life that I love.” I would write that affirmation with a sharpie on bathroom mirror. After writing it out I would say the affirmation out loud and with incredible passion and conviction.
There is something about that affirmation that started to change things for me. I would feel my body vibrate with excitement as it heard the words I was speaking. I started to believe that I was worthy of creating a life that I loved.
Lastly, to be able to create even MORE joyful moments, I realized I needed to work on creating boundaries. If I said yes to everything and everyone around me, I was left with no time for myself. For me, boundaries came in the form of delegating and sharing responsibilities, asking for help when I felt overwhelmed, and saying NO more often. I began asking myself before I committed to things, “Does the thought of doing this bring me joy?”
If the answer was no – I would decline. I began quickly realizing that if I kept saying yes to things I didn’t love, I simply wouldn’t have time to experience the things that I did.
We were born to love the life we live, may we remember that with each breath that we take. @intuitionheals (Click to Tweet!)
